In addition to the brand new elementary schools and the major renovations underway at Gresham and Barlow High Schools, there are numerous other projects both big and small underway at schools across the district. Here’s a quick run down of the next round of improvements coming to Gresham-Barlow Schools, funded by the 2016 Gresham-Barlow School Bond.
Renovations underway at multiple Gresham-Barlow middle schools
Planning is already underway to modernize classrooms and make other facility-wide improvements at Gordon Russell, Dexter McCarty and Clear Creek Middle Schools.
New classrooms, floors, ceilings and a kitchen expansion
All three schools will receive new roofing, new carpets in offices and media centers as well as polished concrete floors, security-minded vestibule entrances, and adding utilities to retrofit existing classroom spaces for enhanced learning and new technology. Dexter McCarty and Gordon Russell are undergoing extensive upgrades to their existing HVAC systems. Construction and completion of these school upgrades is currently planned for the 2020 calendar year.
- Deep Creek-Damascus K-8 opened to students with four brand new classrooms this fall. Construction crews are completing some ADA-accessibility improvements around the building, but the building’s expansion is otherwise complete.
- Hall Elementary and Hollydale Elementary are also each gaining six new classrooms. The exteriors of these school expansions are largely complete, and crews are currently finishing the interiors of the buildings. These improvements are slated to be completed by winter break. Hall Elementary’s new bus loop is scheduled to be completed this October.
- East Orient Elementary, Highland Elementary, and West Orient Middle School are all receiving roofing and flooring upgrades, as well as new secured entrances and upgraded classroom technology.
- Hogan Cedars Elementary will receive an expansion of their kitchen, a new trash enclosure, and a new security vestibule.
